Kalamaki

Kalamaki: small village by the sea with several shops, mini markets, cash machine, restaurants, tavernas, cafes and a swimming pool bar.

Beach: Its sandy beach is very wide and long and not very crowded, but the flat slippery rocks will make the entry to the sea difficult especially on very windy days. It is recommended to use sea shoes that you can buy from the stores in the area (they are not very expensive) and they help with extra gripping when entering the sea. There are sunbeds and umbrellas provided at the beach for free.

Accommodation: There are hotels and apartments for rent in the area from standard to more luxurious options.

Activities: Several kitesurfers visit Kalamaki on windy days and they offer a unique sight.
Komos beach is very close as both beaches are connected and many people like to walk from Kalamaki to Komos and back.

Location: 65km south of Heraklion.
